DIY Sporty Kid's Sweatshirt with Craftables Perforated Heat Transfer Vinyl

Even though neither of my kids play badminton, I just couldn’t resist making this sporty kid’s shuttlecock sweatshirt with perforated heat transfer vinyl.   When I saw the perforated vinyl, I knew it would be perfect for the shuttlecock.   The dot design on the vinyl really makes the top look like plastic feathers! Take a look at the video below to see how you can make your own shuttlecock sweatshirt in just a few easy steps!

Here are the supplies you will need:

Step 1: Before you get started, be sure to wash your sweatshirt.

Step 2: Open up the Cricut cut file. The shuttlecocks in the cut file are sized to fit a toddler 5T sweatshirt. Resize them if you’re using a larger or smaller sweatshirt. Press “Make it”.

Step 3: Select “Everyday Iron-On” for Cricut Maker, “Heat Transfer +” for other Cricut Machines, and “Heat Transfer, Smooth” for a Silhouette.

Step 4: Place the perforated heat transfer vinyl on the cutting mat with the liner side facing down. Then, add it to your Cricut (or Silhouette) machine to cut. Repeat this step with the remaining vinyl colors and designs.

Step 5: Trim down all of the vinyl designs and weed the negative.

Step 6: To add the perforated heat transfer vinyl to your sweatshirt, heat up your EasyPress (or iron) to 300-315 degrees. Place it on the sweatshirt and hold for 5 seconds. Add the design and heat it for 10 seconds. Then, place the Teflon sheet on top and heat for another 15 seconds.

Step 7: Let the liner cool for a minute and peel it off.

Step 8: Add the colored heat transfer vinyl design underneath the perforated heat transfer vinyl. Heat it for 10 seconds. Be sure to keep the EasyPress (or iron) from touching the perforated vinyl. Then, place the Teflon sheet on top and heat for another 15 seconds. Let the liner cool for a minute and peel it off.

Step 9: Repeat the above steps to add the remaining shuttlecock designs to your sweatshirt.

The perforated heat transfer vinyl is great for not only creating this super cute sporty kid’s shuttlecock sweatshirt, but it’s also perfect for making any custom sportswear! It comes in 3 colors and is just as versatile as Craftables Smooth HTV.
